Experimentation with Dancing
This is just us playing around really, I probably won't include dancing in my final film however it gave me a good idea of the stages, for example I can use the same sequence over and over again, like here to give the impression of dancing or any movement they might be doing.
Walking Experimentation
Here is my experimentation with a figure walking, it is very hard to get the right stages of walking, too many and its too slow and too little stages and it doesn't work properly. Here is three different trials I have done, the first one is probably the best, however I like the last one as the foot is fuzzy so gives the impression of quick movement. The main thing I have learnt is that it is important to keep the camera still so the figure is always in the same place, so gives the proper impression of walking. I'm finding stop motion really fun and I think it is the best way of doing this film.

Experimentation with Stop Motion
Here I have used stop motion to give the impression of the eye moving. I found it quite simple to edit these images together, its just about getting the correct timings between each image to make it look like its actually moving. I'd like to use something like this possibly in my final film but a lot closer up of just the eye moving to make it more surreal and strange.
Music Video Stop Motion
I like this video as its one that is filmed outside, for my stop motion I would like to complete it outside on location somewhere to get an interesting background for the film, however there are far more problems with filming outside than in a confined studio, such as things move around, lighting changes and its difficult to get the same position, all of which can be controlled in a studio. However, I prefer filming outside in general so I think filming parts outside, and getting some interesting work done there and possibly doing some studio parts to and mixing them together would be the best way.

Internship with Vauxhall Fashion Scout at LFW
Currently I am working at Vauxhall fashion scout and I have got to see some amazing shows. I am using this experience in my major project as inspiration for looks, colours and styles which I can incorporate into my project. I have so far seen a couple of shows which are interesting and could fit nicely in with my work, so hopefully the rest of the week will bring even more.

Progress
So far my project is going quite successfully, I'm actually happy with my concept and I'm happy with where I am at the moment. I have chosen the concept of dreams, and have started looking into all that surrounds our dreams. At the moment I am particularly inspired by Dali, his paintings and his films as well as the science of dreaming. I think this concept will fit nicely with stop motion as things can disappear and reappear with ease which can create a dream like effect. I want my film to be like a strange reality, no fuzzy, sketchy moments here. Dali, for example, creates scenes which are so bizarre yet look as if they could be a reality, I want to reflect this in my final film. I quite like the freedom this concept is giving me, I'm still not sure exactly what my final film will be like so it is holding my interest, as with previous projects I know exactly what I want at the start so I loose interest in researching phase. I'm going to start storyboarding as soon as possible to get a developed story and interesting concept.

Dream Videos - Sandra Freij
Here are some videos by photographer Sandra Freij, they aren'y based on dreams or stop motion however they have a strange, eerie feeling to them which remind me of dreams. The first one is a video for Lula Magazine and I like the layering of the images over each other to give a strange dimention. Also the unusual themes of the videos create an unsettling feeling, which vivid dreams give you.

Stop motion with photographs
This stop motion film is done with photographs laid down over one another to give the impression of movement. This is pretty much how stop motion is done but usually the photos are put together on the computer and edited together, this is an alternative way of doing it. I quite like this way of doing stop motion, however would take a lot longer than just editing on the computer, as you would have to take pictures of the person, then take a film of the photos being moved. Even though I like the look of the photos being placed on top of each other, this seems to me like a bit of a tedious task, when doing it on the computer would take a considerable less amount of time.
Stop motion: Brother printer advert
I really enjoy these Brother adverts, its really impressive and I can only imagine the amount of time and paper was needed. I can't see how this type of stop motion, using paper would work with what I want to achieve however they are still really good to look at for what can actually be done with stop motion. In the cafe one, I particularly like it when the woman blinks, as the stop motion makes it a bit quirky and cartoon like.
Stop motion: Amazon Kindle adverts
These Amazon Kindle adverts are really fascinating, and I think this is how I can see my stop motion film being done, I like how props float in and out and how the clothes slip on and off in each scene, this could be how the clothing changes thoughout the film. It seems stop motion works well with a quirky, up beat theme such as with these videos which I think are really successful. I know it will be hard to achieve such a flawless stop motion however I would really like to try and achieve something simmilar, which looks effortless.

One step must start each journey
Major Project is probably the most important piece of work I will do at university and the time is here. Being an indecisive person I always find it difficult to start a project and to make the first step towards my final goal. So as a beginning I thought it would be a good idea to look back to help me move forwards. MPP was a massive learning project for me, I learnt that my concept has to be strong otherwise I will get bored, which is what happened and I will not let this happen again. Secondly I learnt that I shouldn't let tutors and other people influence me and my work so much, as I get caught up in those ideas and my ideas get pushed to the side and forgotten, but these are the ideas I need to stick by. My strengths are styling and concept development and these are the things I want to show and as long as I don't get caught up in too many other areas, I should have a good project at the end of this year.
I had a tutorial with Josh, and found it extremely helpful in seeing what I need to focus on and what influences I should take my concept from. Also, I decided that doing a men's wear film would be the best vehicle for showing my skills, however possibly doing stop motion so I can have more control over the content of the film, as I like to be involved fully with every aspect of my work. I just hope I can stick with my ideas and not be torn down by other people.
